HEALTH AND SANITATION
YARO is a child friendly, youth and women centered NGO in Ghana, aiming to improve health and sanitation with a focus on adolescent reproductive Health, family planning, youth social accountability mechanism, health marketing campaigns, malaria, HIV/AIDS, nutrition maternal and child health.
Over the years several projects have been implemented in the health and sanitation area including the following:
- Promoting best practices to reduce maternal mortality in northern Ghana. YARO partnered with Star-Ghana with support from UK AID, EU.
- Young voices project in the upper-west region of Ghana in partnership with plan international with funding from the EU.
- Malaria prevention for pregnant women and children under five years in west Mamprusi municipality in partnership with Ghana malaria elimination programme with funding from Global fund.
- School adolescent reproductive health project in partnership with ISODEC with funding from Save the Children UK.
- School heath project with funding from UNICEF.
- Strengthening the HIV/AIDS Response partnership with evidence-based results (SHARPER) in partnership with FHI 360 and funding from USAID.
- SANDMark project on sanitation. A partnership between YARO and Rufilnet with funding from UNICEF.
- Health marketing activity. Making available family planning commodities to the general public. A partnership with Total Family Health Organization with funding from USAID.
- Youth led social accountability Momentum Country Global Leadership project. Promoting family planning access to young people.
